Melinda Shelton Moore, 70, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday morning, April 14, 2024.

A service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 19, 2024 in the Colonial Funeral Home Chapel in Madison. Burial will follow at Stokesdale Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday at Colonial Funeral Home in Madison.

Melinda was born on January 2, 1954 in Rockingham County to the late Irvin Jones Shelton and Sallie Mae Carter Shelton. She enjoyed her career working as a professional tax preparer and met many friends through her work. Springtime was her favorite season, as it brought her joy to witness God’s creations bloom and sing. She enjoyed all things crafty, with her most recent obsession being “Diamond Dotting” and Macrame. She loved to laugh and had a smile for most people, especially those that held a special place in her heart such as the elderly and those with special needs. She was so giving and generous of her time and talents. She enjoyed fellowship and will be greatly missed in her church groups and weekly Star Pizza gatherings.

She is survived by her daughter, Wanda (Monique); stepchildren, JB Moore, Betty Sizemore (Tony), Judy Jordan and their families; twin sister, Melissa Hooker; brothers, Terry Shelton, Alvis Shelton (Sandra), Kenny Shelton and Dean Shelton (Donna); aunt, Fannie Reid and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Patrick Moore; sister, Doretta “Sis” Pruitt; brothers, Dennis “Dinky” Shelton and Nathan Jones Shelton.
