Obituary: Devin Wayne Rhodes

Devin Wayne Rhodes, 52, died on Friday, November 17, 2023 at Forsyth Medical Center.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, November 19, 2023 at Bethesda United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will greet friends immediately following the service at the cemetery. Friends may sign a register and pay their respects from 8 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. on Sunday at Colonial Funeral Home in Madison.
Devin was born on November 28, 1970 in Rockingham County. He was a member of First Christian Church of Walnut Cove and a dedicated first responder. Devin exemplified stellar service to his community by serving with the Stokes-Rockingham Fire and Rescue, as well as other volunteer positions such as an instructor, board member and fire chief within Stokes and Rockingham County.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Lloyd Johnson and Ruth Morton Johnson and paternal grandfather, Lloyd Rhodes.
Survivors include his mother, Lynn Johnson Berry; father and stepmother, Douglas Wayne Rhodes and Kim Rhodes; brother, Damon Rhodes (Leslie); nephews, Kendrick and Kyle Rhodes; niece, Emma Rhodes; paternal grandmother, Earlene Rhodes; uncles and aunt, Gray Johnson (Jo Ann) and L.J. Rhodes; cousins, Brandon Johnson (Christy), Dr. Eric Johnson, Austin Bredeweg, Abbi Johnson and Ashton Johnson and feline companion, Pipa.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church of Walnut Cove, 1063 N. Main Street, Walnut Cove, NC 27052.
