Obituary: RUBY ANN MABE SHELTON

Ruby Ann Mabe Shelton, 84, of Madison, passed away on Friday, November 17, 2023, at Hospice of Rockingham County.
A 2:00 p.m. funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at Ray Funeral Home with Pastor Jerry Cox officiating. Burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday evening, November 20, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Ray Funeral Home.
Ruby was born in Stokes County on July 12, 1939, to the late J.W.P and Nannie Brown Mabe. She was a 1957 graduate of Walnut Cove Highschool and worked in textiles at Custom Screen Printing for many years. She was of the Baptist faith and attended Clear Springs Primitive Baptist Church. Ruby was a loving mother, grandmother, and G-Ma. She loved reading and bird watching which she often did while babysitting her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Santoy Lee Shelton; her sisters, Sally Bullins and Nancy Shelton; her brothers, Johnny and Rayvon Mabe; her grandson, Chad Jesse Throckmorton; and her great grandson, Wilder Wheatley.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Deborah Wheatley (Roger) of Eden, Cindy Amos (Ted) of Sandy Ridge, and Sandra Gallegos (Lupillo) of Winston Salem; her son, Kenneth Shelton (Joan Davis) of Roxboro; 7 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren with one on the way; and her best friends, Mary Lee Doss, Bubba Summers, and Jerry and Mary Cox.
