Obituary: MARY LOUISE WILLIAMS KNIGHT

Mary Louise Williams Knight, 96, formerly of 1105 Wilkins Street, Mayodan, passed away May 4, 2024 at Gibson House in Wentworth, NC following a brief illness.

There will be a graveside service at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at Eden Methodist Church Cemetery with Reverend Torrey Easler officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at Mayodan First Baptist Church, 101 1st Avenue, Mayodan, NC.

Louise was born on July 19, 1927 in Mayodan to the late Edward Davis Williams and Mary Hatcher Williams. Louise was a graduate of Kings Business College. She made her career as a legal secretary for several local attorneys. For more than 50 years, she and her late husband were faithful members of Mayodan First Baptist Church. She enjoyed shopping for the latest fashions, decorating her home, spending time with family and friends, and UNC basketball. Although she had many interests, her favorite pastime was spending time with her identical twin sister, Lucille.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Jack Carlton Knight; brothers Thomas D. Williams and Norman H. Williams and his wife, Libby.

Survivors include her loving and devoted son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey Houston Knight and Angie Knight of Stokesdale, NC; daughter, Sharon K. Schmidt, and family of Kentucky; grandsons, Durham H. Knight (Anna) and Israel Allen of Greensboro, NC; great-grandson, Leo August Knight; her beloved twin sister, Lucille W. Wray of Mayodan; sister-in-law, Mollie T Williams of Mayodan; and six nieces and nephews and their families who loved “Weezy” dearly. In addition to her family, Louise leaves a host of friends who will forever remember her.

The family would like to thank the staff of Jacob’s Creek Nursing and Rehabilitative Care and Ancora Compassionate Care for their loving and attentive care.
