Obituary: GARY WALLACE REDD, SR

Mr. Gary Wallace Redd, Sr., age 80, passed away Monday, April 22, 2024 at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC.
Public viewing will begin on Saturday, April 27, 2024 from 12 until 8 p.m. at McLaurin-Harris Funeral Home, 721 East Morehead Street, Reidsville, NC.
Interment will follow in Redd Family Cemetery, Ridgeway, VA with military honors.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making donations to his wife, Mary Hilda Redd. The family is appreciative of your thoughts and prayers and will receive friends at the residence on a limited basis.
Mr. Redd was born in Patrick County, Virginia on June 4, 1943 to John Henry Redd and Elizabeth Ann Foddrell Redd.
He faithfully served his country and was honorably discharged from the United States Marine Corps.
For many years, he was employed by DuPont Inc. where he retired after 35 years of service.
He was a member of Fairgrove Missionary Baptist Church in Summerfield, NC.
In his spare time, he enjoyed golfing and was an award winning “Coon Hunter”
Survivors include his wife, Mary Hilda Redd; children, Gary Wallace Redd, Jr. (Cheree), Tavia Redd, Irwinette Redd Scales (Damon) and Yvette Redd; brothers, Roger Redd (Nancy), Maurice Redd (Faye) and Cephus Redd (Denise); grandchildren, Joshua Redd and Lynzi Scales; sister-in-law, Diane Redd; a host of relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Henry Lane Redd (Mary Lou), Marvin Garland Redd; sister, Avis Wright (Raymond).
