The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints News Release • March 30, 2024 • Ronda Tucker, Communication Director
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has teamed up with OneBlood to host a “Give as He Gave” blood drive on April 10th.
For the third consecutive year, several Christian congregations have collaborated with OneBlood to organize blood drives commemorating the Easter season and the profound sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Thus far, these efforts have resulted in the collection of 634 pints of blood. Given that each pint can potentially save up to three lives, this initiative has impacted 1902 individuals positively. Nineteen congregations across Western North Carolina and parts of South Carolina are participating in this year’s “Give as He Gave” blood drive.
“There is no greater gift than to give someone their life back,” said Susan Forbes, OneBlood Senior Vice President of Corporate Communications and Public Relations. “The power to save another person’s life is literally running through your veins. Share that power and donate each time you are eligible. You will be doing a tremendous service to the community and giving people a second chance at life.”
Donors will be given a complimentary wellness checkup, a special edition “Give as He Gave” t-shirt and a $20 e-gift card from OneBlood.
“Jesus demonstrated unconditional love and compassion,” said James D. Carlson, an area faith leader in Greensboro. “Donating blood is a tangible way to extend life-saving support to those in need, emulating Easter’s message of redemption and renewal.”
Want to donate? Generally, healthy individuals who are 16 or older and weigh at least 110 pounds are eligible to donate blood. Sign up for the April 10th blood drive at 3719 Pinetop Road in Greensboro using this link: https://donor.oneblood.org/…/sch…/drive_schedule/1375361
