Margie Gray Nelson died peacefully, Friday, May 10, 2025, at home at the age of 84.

Margie was born September 6 1940, in Stokes County, Lawsonville, to the late Vermie Edgar Nelson “Bay” and LuZettie Nelson. She was a member of Price United Methodist Church and a retired beautician.

In addition to her parents, Margie was preceded in death by a brother, Reverend Billy Nelson; a sister-in-law, Zella Craddock Nelson, and two nephews, William DeCarol Nelson and, James Anthony Nelson.

Margie is survived by her children, Patricia Mabe, of King; Ricky Mabe, of Mt. Airy, Mark Mabe (Suzanne), of King, Barry Mabe, of King, and Susan Mabe Albright (Dale), of Murfreesboro, TN; grandchildren, Cathy Lowe, of Mayodan, Joey Baker (Christy) of Walburg, Chris Sawyers, Matthew Mabe, Caleb Mabe, Mark Mabe Jr., Ashleigh Boyles (Jared), of King, Josh Arrington (Christine), of Murfreesboro, TN, Spencer Livingston (Bobby), of Atlanta, GA, Claudia Funderburk, of Atlanta, GA; 13 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren. Also left to cherish Margie’s memory are her siblings, Betty Mabe, of Sandy Ridge, and James Nelson (Hazel), of Madison; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends from 12:45 p.m. to 1:45 p.m., Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at Colonial Funeral Home Stokes Chapel and all other times at her daughter Patricia’s home in King. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with interment following at North View Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Danbury.
