Charlie David Holland, “Pops” to his grandkids and many others, passed away peacefully at the age of 95, Friday, April 4, 2025, at Ancora Compassionate Care, Gibson House, Reidsville.
Mr. Holland was the middle of 13 children born April 26, 1930, to the late Ruben Reed Holland and Fannie Baker Holland. He was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Mayodan where he served as a past deacon and a Sunday school teacher. He loved the Lord and his church family and was truly a man after God’s own heart with his commitment to God’s ways. Charlie was the rock his family depended on, and he was a caregiver for many family members. Charlie retired from Gem Dandy with 29 years of service. He was a skilled carpenter and continued working with his grandson’s construction business doing woodwork as well as building and installing custom cabinets.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Holland was preceded in death by his wife of 75 years, Helen Robertson Holland, and a son, Jerry Holland.
Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-laws, Ronnie (Karen) Holland, of Madison; Charles (Wendy) Holland, of Madison; daughters and sons-in-law, Carol (Ed) McLawhon, of Madison; Sandra (Bill) Elmore, of Hillsborough and daughter-in-law, Rhonda Holland, of Madison; grandchildren, Heidi (John) Lambeth, John (Heather) McLawhon, Jamie (Jenna) McLawhon, Dr. Kristen Elmore (John) Schuldt, Dr. Kevin Elmore; David, Daniel and Tyler Holland; five great-grandchildren, Jack, Maggie, Haylee, Philip, and Caroline; brother, Richard Holland and his wife Patricia and sister, Margaret Carden; and a special friend of the family, Althea Fulcher.
The family extends their greatest appreciation to his faithful caregiver and friend of the family, Faye Serrano.
