Rockingham County, NC (June 10, 2024)—The Rockingham County Economic Development and Tourism office and the Rockingham County Tourism Development Authority (TDA) and is excited to announce the release of the completely revamped RoCo Quilt Trail Guide. The RoCo Quilt Trail Guide replaces the previous Rockingham County Quilt Trail Road Trip guide with a fresh new look, layout, and suggestions for must-visit locations along the way.

Inaugurated in 2015, the Rockingham County Quilt Trail originated as an initiative organized by the Piedmont Conservation Council (PCC), made possible through a grant awarded by the NC Department of Commerce. Collaborating with Rockingham County Soil & Water and the Rockingham County Tourism Development Authority (TDA), PCC transformed the vision into reality. Subsequently, the TDA, through the efforts of Visit RoCo, has remained steadfast in expanding the trail by incorporating additional quilt squares and actively promoting its attraction.

Every quilt square adorning the trail carries its own unique significance and narrative, rendering each one exceptionally special. Recognizing the value of these individual stories, prompted Visit RoCo’s significant restructuring of the RoCo Quilt Trail Guide. Now, each of the trail’s 43 squares is meticulously presented on its own dedicated page within the guide. This comprehensive approach enables trail enthusiasts to not only locate each square but also delve into the backstory behind its meaning and design, alongside essential details such as its owner, artist and nearby amenities.

The self-guided trail tour, which is broken into four segments, allows residents and visitors alike to experience Rockingham County’s beautiful rural landscape including historic tobacco barns, vineyards, and farm stands, as well as other attractions, including breweries, boutiques, outdoor recreation, entertainment, historical landmarks, and more along the way.

“The RoCo Quilt Trail highlights Rockingham County’s local agriculture, community artists, and cultural heritage,” said Lindsay Pegg, Rockingham County Tourism Manager. “Each square is strategically placed to showcase the county’s beauty and unique settings. We hope the addition of various places to visit ‘along the way’ enhances the overall experience for both visitors and residents.”
