(Rockingham County, NC) – On Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at around noon, while on routine patrol, Rockingham County Sheriff’s Lieutenant Steve Perkins located a motorcycle on the side of the road on U.S. 29 Bypass (Southbound), just South of the Narrow Gauge Rd. Exit in Reidsville, with no one around it. This motorcycle matched the description of a suspect vehicle used in an Armed Robbery of a bank in Pittsylvania County, Virginia, about 45 minutes prior.

Lt. Perkins and several other Rockingham County Sheriff’s Deputies searched the area and located Kevin Brett Collins, 39, of 3446 Wellington Place Murfreesboro, TN, walking along the roadside of U.S. 158 East near Brooks Rd.

With the assistance of Danville Police and agents from the United States ATF and the FBI, it was determined that Collins was, in fact, the suspect in the bank robbery. Money taken during the bank robbery was also located in Collins’ possession. The motorcycle the suspect used during the robbery was reported stolen from Trinity, N.C.

Kevin Brett Collins was placed in the Rockingham County Detention Facility under a $275,000 secured bond on charges of Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Resist, Obstruct and Delay an Officer, and a Fugitive Warrant out of Virginia in connection to the bank robbery.
