NOTICE OF DISCHARGE OF UNTREATED SEWAGE
Rockingham County had a discharge of untreated wastewater from our collection system located at our Bear Branch Lift Station near 162 Percy Road in Wentworth, NC of approximately 7,000 gallons. This discharge occurred on 11/15/2024 for approximately 3.5 hours. The untreated wastewater entered into an unnamed tributary in the Roanoake River Basin. The sewer line upstream of the spill was jetted to prevent further discharge, and lime and straw were spread over the affected area. This notice was required by North Carolina General Statutes Article 21, Chapter 143.215C.
