Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office News Release • December 19, 2023 • Lt. K. Suthard, PIO
(Wentworth, NC) – On Monday, December 18th at around 1:00 a.m., BRIAN KEITH HEARN, age 39, of Reidsville, N.C., turned himself in to the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office on an existing arrest warrant and probation violation.
During booking into the Rockingham County Detention Facility, HEARN received a non-evasive body scan using the Tek84 Intercept Scanner on-site, per standard procedure. The Tek84 Intercept Scanner uses low-level X-rays to platform a 3.8-second scan of a new inmate. The Tek84 then provides a detailed image showing any objects that might be concealed under the individual’s clothing or within body cavities.
In this instance, the scan showed a foreign item concealed within HEARN’s rectal cavity. HEARN was immediately taken to a hospital, where the object was retrieved. The object contained what is believed to be heroin and tobacco. The NC State Bureau of Investigation Crime Lab has been requested to test the items recovered from HEARN.
HEARN was then returned to the Rockingham County Detention Facility after receiving an additional charge of Felony Possession of a Controlled Substance on Jail/Prison Premises. HEARN’s total secured bond for his existing and new charges is $15,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 9th.
