(Wentworth, NC) – On Monday, January 9, 2023, the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office announced that Deputy Jon Peters was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and Deputy Mike Mitchell was promoted to the rank of Sergeant.
According to a press release dated, 1/9/2023, Lt. Peters started his law enforcement career in 1996 at the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office. Lt. Peters will take command of a shift within the Patrol Division, where he is currently assigned. Peters has been a Sergeant in the Patrol Division for 15 years and was a Sergeant prior to that in the Criminal Investigations Division.
“I’d like to thank Lt. Peters for his years of service and dedication to the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office”, said Sheriff Sam Page. “Lt. Peters will make a great addition to our Administrative Staff.”

In a sperated press release, dated 1/17/2023, Sergeant Mitchell started his law enforcement career in 2007 at the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office. During his years of dedicated service, Sergeant Mitchell has held various positions within the Sheriff’s Patrol Division, where he will now serve as a Front Line Supervisor for one of our Patrol Shifts.
