Mr. Paul Moore named Police Chief of the City of Eden
(Eden, NC) – Mr. Paul Moore has been named the new Police Chief for the City of Eden effective October 1, 2023. He will be replacing Chief Clint Simpson, who retires September 30, 2023. “I look forward to working with Chief Moore as he continues to lead the Police Department into the future while honoring the stability, service to community, and family atmosphere that have been the hallmarks of the Eden Police Department for many years,” said Jon Mendenhall, City Manager.
Paul Moore began his career with the Eden Police Department in August of 2003. Moore was assigned to numerous duties throughout his career to include: Patrol Officer, Criminal Investigations, Lead Crime Scene Investigator, Criminal Investigations Sergeant, Patrol Sergeant, Patrol Lieutenant, Administrative Captain and currently holds the assignment of Deputy Police Chief.
Moore is an Eden native who graduated from Morehead High School. After high school he joined the US Army where he served in the 82nd Airborne Division. After serving honorably for 6.5 years he returned to Eden and obtained an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice Technologies from Rockingham County Community College. He is a graduate of the NC Association of The Chiefs of Police Institute, and the Piedmont Leadership Academy. Moore also holds an Advanced Law Enforcement Certificate from the NC Criminal Justice Education, Training and Standards Commission, and a Crime Scene Investigator’s Certificate from the NC Justice Academy.
He is an active member of the community where he volunteers as an assistant coach for the Prowlers Volleyball Program, serves as a member of the Eden Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and is a member of the Draper Christian Church Congregation. In the past he has volunteered as a Junior Olympic volleyball coach, assistant Morehead High School softball coach, Morehead High School Athletic Trainer, and as an advisory board member for the Piedmont Leadership Academy.
Moore and his wife Stephanie have been married for 31 years and are the proud parents of three children, Claudia, Avery and Gavin. They have also been blessed with one grandson, Boston. When not working, Moore enjoys spending time with his family and the occasional offshore fishing trip.
