Zella Craddock Nelson, 83, left this earthly life, Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, N.C.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, December 8, at Colonial Funeral Home Stokes Chapel and all other times at the residence. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Nelson Cemetery.
Zella was born on November 25, 1940, in Henry County, to the late Jessie Lee Craddock and Hester Stegall Craddock. She was a faithful member of Lakeview Baptist Church where her husband pastored for many years.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Nelson was preceded in death by Reverend Billy Nelson; sons William DeCarol Nelson, James Anthony Nelson and 19 siblings.
Left to cherish her memory are sons Johnny Nelson (Mary); Ronnie Nelson (Anne), and Eugene Nelson (Kathy); daughter-in-law Elizabeth Nelson; grandchildren Shawn Nelson, Shannon Mabe, Brian Nelson (Jennifer), Angel Vernon, Amy Nelson, Zora Nelson, Ellie Nelson; great-grandchildren, McCrea Mabe, Caleb Mabe, Khloe Presnell, Kyler Lemons, and Lukas Nelson. She is also survived by sisters-in-law Betty Mabe, Margie Nelson, Dorothy Craddock and brother-in-law James Nelson; several nieces and nephews and special friends Junior Williams and Pat Williams.
