Woodrow James, Sr., the beloved husband of Cornelia Gunn James, departed this life Tuesday evening, March 28, 2023.
As a native and lifelong resident of Caswell County, North Carolina, he attended the local public schools and was a retired farmer by trade. He formerly worked at the rock quarry and was of the Baptist faith.
His parents, Louise Henderson James and Alvis James, Sr.; daughter, Vickie Mae James; sisters, Martha James Stephens, Emma James, Cora Lee James, Rosa Corbett and Pauline Sherells; brothers, Hubert Jack James, Edward James and Alvis James, Jr. (Cricket); daughter-in-law, Cheryl James and Shirdean James, preceded him in death.
Survivors are: beloved wife of 67 years, Cornelia Gunn James; sons, Woodrow James, Jr. and Dan James; daughter, Sharon James; grandchildren, Lakiza James, Stephanie James and Selena Price; great-grandchildren, Paris Womack, Nashaun Price, Destiny Price, Jeremiah Price and Malachi Herbin; sisters-in-law, Lucy James, Mae Gunn, Yvonne Gunn and Catherine Flippen; brothers-in-law, Charles Gunn (Mary), Curtis Gunn and Walter Gunn; special cousins, Charles and Mary Henderson; special friends, Thomas Williams, Mario Herbin and Michael Best; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 4, 2023 from the chapel of Johnson & Sons, 115 Holderby Street, Reidsville with Dr. John B. Doe presiding. Public viewing will be Monday afternoon at Johnson & Sons.
