Willie ‘Bill’ Ray Lawson, 89, passed away peacefully at Willowbrooke Nursing and Rehab on Monday, May 26, 2025.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 30, 2025 at Comer’s Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery. Friends may sign a register and view Mr. Lawson beginning at 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Thursday, May 29, 2025 at Colonial Funeral Home.

Bill was born on November 21, 1935 to the late James and Louise Lawson. Bill was known for his warm heart and friendly nature, which endeared him to many. He cherished the time he spent with his family, creating countless memories filled with love and laughter. Bill’s faith was a big part of his life, and he found great joy and community within his church family at Comer’s Chapel. His presence there will be deeply missed by all who shared in his spiritual journey. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, love, and devotion to both family and community.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lucy Hodges Lawson; daughter, Bonnie Gail Moricle; sisters, Frances Bullins and Ruby Gammons; brothers, Thomas Lawson, George Lawson, Harry Lee Lawson, Bobby Lawson and Joe Lawson.

He is survived by his son, James Hubbard (Glenda); grandchildren, Kimberly Shabosky, Jonathan Moricle, Jamie Hubbard, Chris Hubbard and Shawn Hubbard; step-grandchildren, Tony Hunter, Jerry Hunter and Ricky Hunter; Fifty- Five great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Wallace Moricle; sisters, Mary Lou Heath, Nancy Martin, Betty Heath, Lucy Holder and several special nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made to Comer’s Chapel Baptist Church in Madison.

Colonial Funeral Home in Madison is serving the family.
