William “Mark” Plummer, Sr., 76, a quiet yet witty man known for his sharp sarcasm and tough love, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Friday, January 10, 2025 at Moses Cone Hospital.
Mark was born on July 2, 1948 in Rockingham County to the late Daniel Harvey Plummer and Mary Louise Shelton Plummer. Though reserved, Mark’s actions spoke louder than words, revealing his deep devotion to those he cared for most.
He cherished his wife, his son, his late daughter, and his stepdaughter, and found joy in his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who softened his tough exterior while still receiving his signature brand of loving guidance.
Mark’s humor, strength, and unwavering dedication left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him. Though he has departed, his legacy of love and the lessons he shared will remain in the hearts of his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Norma Jean Vaden Plummer and his daughter, Patti Plummer Cardwell.
Survivors include his wife, Pamela Joyce Plummer; son, William Mark Plummer; step-daughter, Cheryl Bonton (Troy); grandchildren, Scott Thornton (Jessica), Christopher Thornton (Alicia), Jonathan Plummer, Chanda Bowman (Brandon), Cameron Thornton, Victoria Wilson (Ricky) and Michael Bailey (Makayla); fourteen great-grandchildren; siblings, Danny Plummer, Karran Lemons, Sharron Anderson, Ricky Plummer and Charles Plummer and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
