William “Billy” Lee Martin, 89, of Mayodan, passed away on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, at his home.
An 11:00 a.m. graveside service will be held on Friday, February 24, 2023, at Mayodan Municipal Cemetery with military honors and Rev. Torrey Easler officiating. The family will greet friends following the service.
Billy was born on August 20, 1933, to the late Robert and Inez Joyce Martin. He was a veteran with the US Army where he served in the Korean War and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Mayodan. Billy worked for Asplundh Tree Company for 35 years and owned Bill’s Tree Service where he did outside maintenance for Tultex. He loved his cars, working in his yard with flowers, and his biggest joy were his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Monroe Martin, Jr.; his sisters, Dorothy Martin and Louise Spencer; and his dog, Martin Martin.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Loretta Martin Martin of the home; his daughter, Sandra Lee Martin Smith and husband Billy Ray of Mayodan; his grandchildren, Leslie Nichole Smith Frazier and husband Todd and Jarred Martin Smith and Caylyn; and his nieces, Donna Newsome, Bonnie Beasley, and Robyn Thomas.
