William Howard Simpson, Jr. departed this life on Wednesday, December 21, 2022.
As a native and resident of Rockingham County, North Carolina for the majority of his life, he attended the local public schools and was a graduate of Reidsville Senior High School, Class of 1985. He pursued further education at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a major in Economics and graduating in 1990. William was formerly employed as a Mortgage Broker for Intercoastal Mortgage and was a devoted member of Little Salem Christian Church where he served with the Pastor’s Aid Committee. Having a special interest in horticulture, he enjoyed gardening and landscaping with meticulous skill. During his leisure, he enjoyed dancing, cooking and grilling.
His father, William H. Simpson, Sr., preceded him in death.
Survivors are: beloved mother, Fannie Mims Simpson; sisters, Julia Simpson Ungewitter (Martin), Marilyn Hampton, Felisa Simpson, Iris Redd and Renee Watkins; brothers, Walter E. Simpson (Alvina) and Tallius Simpson (Trudy); nieces and nephews, James “Boomer” Hampton, IV, Jasmine Simpson Galloway (Tyrece), Katrina Ungewitter, Niko Simpson, Maya Redd, William Ungewitter, India Cook, Noel Cook, Jr., Tallius Simpson and Walter Simpson; devoted uncle, Wallace Galloway; brothers-in-law, James Hampton, III and Alton Redd; special friends, Kenny Kelley, Oliver Slade, “Brooks Road Crew” and Darryl Redd; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 31, 2022 from the Piedmont District of the Christian Churches, Disciples In Christ (Christian View), 3300 Wentworth Street with Pastor Ron McRae presiding. The family will receive friends Saturday from 12:15 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the church.
