Obituary: WILLIAM HARDIN HOPKINS, JR

William “Yogi” Hardin Hopkins, Jr., 62, of Cascade, Virginia, passed away on Monday, March 6, 2023, at his residence.

A service of remembrance will be held at a later date. He will be laid to rest in the Hopkins Cemetery in Cascade, VA.

He was born on December 4, 1960, a son of William Hardin Hopkins, Sr. and Reba Casino Hopkins, both deceased. He worked as a truck driver. Yogi was always known for his love for children. He spent time making them happy with lots of movie and pizza nights.

He is survived by the love of his life, Sharon Hopkins; his children, Michelle Carter and husband Robert of Ruffin, and William Hardin Hopkins, III. and Katelynn Rigney of Dryfork, VA; his siblings, Webb Hopkins of Cascade, and Ava Gover of Axton, VA; and his grandchildren, Joseph Knighten, IV., Matthew Tucker, Harlee Knighten, Preston Tucker, Everleigh Hopkins, and a baby boy on the way.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Tonya Tucker, and his sister, Angie Watson.

The family will receive friends at 1 pm Saturday, March 11, 2023 at the residence of his late father, 920 Huntington Trail, Cascade, VA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the funeral home to assist with final expenses.
