William Frank Shaffer, 66, died on Monday, December 4, 2023 at Moses Cone Hospital.
The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, December 8, 2023 at the Mayodan Methodist Church with Reverend Charlie Carter officiating. A private burial will follow the service in the family cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. on Friday at the church and all other times at the home.
Frank was born on June 16, 1957 in Rockingham County to the late Willie Frank “Billy” Shaffer and Delores Martin Shaffer. For fifty years, he dedicated his life, alongside of his family to the Airport Drive-In Restaurant, where he served his community with a smile and nurtured many friendships. Frank was a car enthusiast and enjoyed hosting and cooking for his friends and family. He was also a skilled jack of all trades, always working or tinkering with a project. Frank will forever be remembered as a kind, loving and giving person, as well as the life of every party.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Chad Shaffer and grandson, Blake Welch.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Abby Shaffer; daughters, Chasity Shaffer, Lesley Gleiser (Scott) and Samantha Shaffer; grandchildren, Chase Welch, Gage Shaffer, Charlie Shaffer, Jacob Shaffer, Tate Gleiser and one grandson on the way; sister, Karen Stewart (Jay); brothers, Mark Shaffer (Barbara) and Keith Shaffer (Robin) and many special nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ancora Compassionate Care of Rockingham County, PO Box 281, Wentworth, NC 27375 or to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
