Obituary: WILLIAM “BILL” GARRETT COCHRAN, III

William “Bill” Garrett Cochran III, 67, of Eden passed away on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at his residence.

William was born in Rockingham County on May 19, 1957, a son of the late William Garrett Cochran Jr. and Barbara Overby Cochran. He was a proud native of Green Acres and lived the majority of his life in Draper. He was a veteran of the Air Force and was a diesel mechanic. William was loved by everyone that ever met him and never ran across a stranger. He had an extensive collection of Hawaiian shirts. He always enjoyed a good joke, tall tales and some of the worst songs known to man. He was an avid gamer and has played nearly every Legend of Zelda ever released. He loved to tinker and was a jack of all trades. He was a faithful member of Victory Baptist Church and loved his church family.

He is survived by his loving wife of almost 50 years, Kathy McCrickard Cochran; his children, Tandra Handy and husband, Ralph of Eden and William Garrett Cochran IV and friend, Shaylee of Charlotte; his siblings, Windy Phelps of Eden, Kim Denny of Eden and Virginia Cochran and Krista of Eden.

His biological and many, many adopted grandchildren, Grace Elledge and husband Matt, Kari Bingman, Katelyn Turner, Alyssa Kutlik, Ty Kutlik, Cody Kutlik and Josie Kutlik. He also adored his two great grandsons, Harrison and Wes “Wooly Bill”.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at 1 pm at Boone & Cooke Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening, May 24,2024 from 6 until 8 pm and other times at the residence.
