Wayne “Toby” Hopper, 75, died on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at Annie Penn Hospital.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 26, 2023 at Ellisboro Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday at Colonial Funeral Home in Madison and all other times at the residence.

Mr. Hopper was born on January 31, 1948 in Rockingham County to the late Archie Andrew Hopper and Betty Lois Throckmorton Hopper. Toby retired from Unifi, Inc. after forty-two years of service and attended Ellisboro Baptist Church. For many years, Toby enjoyed farming and selling produce, as he was well known for his German Johnson Tomatoes. He will forever be remembered as a kind, humble and giving man.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Mikie Hopper; sister-in-law, Peggy Hopper and brother-in-law, Ronnie Mabe.

Survivors include his wife, Hazel Craig Hopper; daughter, Annie Ruth Hopper; two grandchildren; brothers, Connie Hopper (Rita) and David Hopper (Becky) and sisters, Betty Mabe and Carol Mabe (Mike).

The family wishes to thank the third floor staff at Annie Penn Hospital and Hospice of Rockingham County for their love and care.
