Obituary: WAYNE MAXWELL FOWLER, JR

Wayne Maxwell Fowler, Jr. of Seattle, Washington, formerly of Eden, NC passed away on July 15, 2023.  Wayne is now in his final home with the Lord whom he loved and more importantly loved to tell everyone about.  He is now at peace from the many struggles faced while here in this world.

A memorial service will be held at 4 pm Sunday, July 23, 2023, at King Memorial Baptist Church where Wayne’s oldest son, Matthew is a Pastor.  The family will receive friends from 3 until 4 pm before the service at the church.  Immediately following the service will be two of Wayne’s favorite passions, “Food and Fellowship” as he would say, everyone is welcome.

Wayne was born on July 19, 1968, in Eden, NC to Wayne Fowler Sr. and Hazel Fowler.  He grew up in Draper, spending most of his time at the Draper Rec. and Draper Pool with his brothers and friends.  “Those were the best days”, he would say.  Wayne was a graduate of Renton Technical Community College where he earned a degree in Diesel Mechanics.  He was also a graduate of Highline Community College where he earned a degree in Computer Science.  What Wayne loved the most was being on the road as a truck driver, meeting new people.  He never met a stranger.  He would strike up a conversation with anyone he crossed paths with.

Wayne will be remembered for his selfless caring nature.  He would literally take the shirt off his back and give it to anyone.  He is and will be missed by those who knew him best.

Wayne is survived by his son, Matthew Fowler (Kristen) and his grandchildren, Hannah and Landon, of Eden, NC; his step dad, Dave Alexander of Berea, KY; his siblings, Steve Fowler (Kim) of Reidsville, Chris Fowler of Seattle, WA, Kelly Alexander of Tampa, FL, Crissy Rettig of Berea, KY and Baron Alexander of Wichita Falls, TX; his aunts, Mary Stevens of Virginia, Joe Ann Goad (Clyde) of Eden and Wayne’s GO-TO, the one that loved him best, unconditionally, the one he could call for any situation, his aunt Peggy Turner Wright; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne Fowler Sr., and Hazel Fowler; and his son, Jacob “Jake” Fowler.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to King Memorial Baptist Church, 811 West Avenue, Eden, NC 27288 for the service and the Jake Fowler Fellowship Shelter Fund.

Boone & Cooke, Inc. Funeral Home is serving the family.
