Thomas Gilmore Hall Gilmore Hall of Stuart Va, passed away peacefully on Wednesday March 29, 2023 at Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice in Dobson, NC.
Gilmore was born on November 7, 1935 in Stokes County, North Carolina to Richard and Lola Lawson Hall. He was the only child and relished that position in his family. He was blessed with close relatives he considered siblings.
Gilmore graduated from Stuart High School in 1955 where he was voted Neatest in his class’ Senior Superlatives. He served in the US Army twice in his early years before beginning a 40 year career in the textile industry. In this career, Gilmore made some true friends. He retired in March 1993 just in time for his cherished position of Papa.
He and Mary Jane shared their love of exploration with their daughters at an early age. His daughters have such fond memories of his loading up the station wagon and driving to many far away places. From Bourbon Street to Bar Harbor, they gathered a Gilmore Story from each destination that they carry fondly always.
As a beach lover, Gilmore had so many incredible times at Sherwood Forrest (later Barefoot Resort) in North Myrtle Beach where he was always out and about on his golf cart making friends, reading on the beach, and taking his grandchildren fishing and crabbing. Gilmore was always there for his family, his friends and his community.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Mary Jane Nelson Hall and by an infant son, Richard Dwayne Hall.
Survivors include his daughters, Cydne Connor and husband, Steve, Dana Hensley and her husband, Alan, all of Madison,
