Thomas Franklin Hundley, born October 18, 1936, in Stokes County, NC passed away on July 20, 2023 at his home with his beloved wife, Martha Snead Hundley by his side.
A funeral service will be held at 2 pm Sunday, July 23, 2023, at Boone & Cooke Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Debra Watson officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 pm before the service at the funeral home and other times at the residence.
Tom was a 1955 graduate of Stuart High School in Stuart, VA. He graduated from ASTU (now ASU) in Boone, NC in 1959. He taught school for two years at Martinsville High School, was assistant personnel manager at Stanley Furniture Co. in Stanleytown, VA before joining Nationwide Mutual Ins. Co where he worked for 32 years, retiring in 1999. He also served his country in the Army in the early 1960s.
Tom was married to Martha for 53 years. After both retired, they travelled the United States and Canada for many years, visiting 48 of the 50 states in their motor home. He loved travelling and was ready to go at any time. He had many interests through the years, including golf, NASCAR races, baseball, basketball, and football. He is survived by his wife, Martha Snead Hundley of the home; his sister-in-law, Leah Hundley; his nephews, John Hundley, III of Falls Church, VA, Robert L. (Bob) Hundley, Jr. of Mechanicsville, VA, Alan Hundley of Nashville, TN and Clyde Evans Hundley; his nieces, Pat Hundley Gallimore of Leister, NC, Lynne Hundley Smith of Manakin Sabot, VA; and several great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, John G. Hundley, Sr. and Ida Collins Hundley and his brothers, John G. Hundley, Jr., Jack W. Hundley and Robert L. Hundley, Sr.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Leaksville United Methodist Church, 603 Henry Street, Eden, NC 27288 or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
