

Thelma Jean “Jeanie” Moore Lawson left this earthly life at the age of 87, Monday, March 3, 2025, at Mountain Valley Woltz Hospice Home.
Mrs. Lawson was born December 9, 1937, in Stokes County, to the late Charles Marion Moore and Mattie Sue Stevens Moore. Jeanie was a graduate of Lawsonville High School in 1956. She was employed at North Stokes High School, Stokes Reynolds Hospital, and Blue Ridge Nursing Home in food service. Jeanie was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, who loved taking care of her family. She was of the Primitive Baptist faith.
In addition to her parents, Jeanie was preceded in death by her husband, Roland Lane Lawson; brothers, Charles Shelby Moore and Donald Lee Moore; and sisters, Louise Young and Mary Sue Alley.
Survivors include a son, Darrell Lane Lawson (Charlotte); daughter, Connie Lawson Hughes (Derek); grandchildren, Morgan Elizabeth Evans (Justin), Dylan Lane Lawson, and Natalie Grace Hughes, and great-grandson, Landon Evans; brother, Neil Moore (Betty), sister, Janet Moore. Also left to cherish Jeanie’s memory are several extended family members.
Interment will be held at Snow Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. Friends will be received other times at the home of Connie and Derek Hughes.
Flowers are welcomed or donations may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice.
The family extends their deep appreciation to the staff at Landmark, Stuart, VA, and to Dr. Waite and the staff at Mountain Valley Woltz Hospice Home for their attentive care.
