Teresa Alley Shough, 70, left this earthly life on Tuesday, January 3, 2023.
A memorial service will be held at 12 noon on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at the Wentworth Church of God with Pastor Charlie Carter officiating.
Mrs. Shough was born on July 10, 1952 in Rockingham County to the late James Robert Alley and Ruby Elizabeth Hopper Alley. For many years, Teresa enjoyed farming alongside her husband, Benton. She loved worshipping at the Wentworth Church of God and staying active with her friends at the Barry Joyce Cancer Center. Teresa will be remembered for her genuine spirit and for being an encourager to many.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Benton Shough; sisters, Elizabeth O’Neal, Barbara Ann Shelton and Mary Evan and brother, Ted Alley.
Survivors include her daughters, Teresa Lynn “Purdy” Whitfield (Adam) and Mary Ann Townsend; honorary daughter, Nicole Richards (Chris); six grandchildren, James Townsend, Henry Purdue, Cassandra Shough, Carly Richards, Mary Elizabeth Whitfield and Loretta Rose Whitfield; brother, J.D. Alley and special friends, John and Denise Lafferty.
The family wishes to thank Jennifer Joyce for her special friendship and support through the Barry Joyce Cancer Center.
