Obituary: TANYA DENISE SMITH

Tanya Denise Smith, 48, of Stoneville passed away on Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at the Gibson House Hospice Home.

A celebration of life service will be held at 5 pm Monday, April 17, 2023 at Boone & Cooke Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends from 4 until 5 pm Monday before the service at the funeral home and other times at 459 Merriman Street in Eden.

Tanya was born on May 4, 1974 to Bobby and Velma Curry Smith in Fort Worth, Texas where her Daddy was stationed in the Army. As a little girl, she was a blonde headed baby doll with big blue eyes. She was a Army brat moving around with her family as her daddy pursued his career.

Around the age of 16, they moved to Eden to be closer to family. She graduated in 1992 from Morehead Senior High School. She was very smart in school and made a lot of friends. She worked as a Sales Manager for Second Hand Cash in Eden.

On July 11, 1995, she became a Mama to Brittany Nicole Sanders. She welcomed her second daughter into the world on August 10, 1998, Chelsea Leann Corum. Her third daughter was born on November 6, 2001, Tami Lynn Corum. Her girls were the sunshine in her life and she loved them with all her heart.

On April 30, 2003, she lost Chelsea to a drowning accident, that day Tanya’s life was forever changed. On April 12, 2023, 20 years later, she was reunited with Chelsea at 12:35 pm.

Left to cherish her memories are her girls, Brittany Nicole Sanders, Tami Lynn Corum and Taylor Corum of Eden; father of her children, Tim Corum; her father, Bobby Smith (Barb); her grandchildren, Liza Jane Harris, Jamar Crenshaw, Jr. and due in August 2023, A’Journey Denise Totten; her sister, Kimberly Stewart; her brothers, Tim Smith and Robert Smith; many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Tanya was preceded in death by her daughter, Chelsea Leann Corum; her Mom, Velma Deloris Curry; her paternal grandparents, Jerry F. and Betty G. Patterson; and her maternal grandparents, Marshall “Fuzzy” and Vera G. Curry.
