Steve Randall Collins, 65, entered his eternal rest on December 11, 2024, surrounded by family.
A lifelong resident of Reidsville, NC, Steve was the proud son of Percy and Velma Collins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Percy Collins.
Steve graduated from Rockingham Community College. He was a mechanical engineer at IEM Plastics and Bristol-Meyers Squibb before he transitioned into owning/operating a specialized forklift business that served Rockingham and Guilford county areas until he retired.
Steve was gifted in many areas, including the mechanical design and builds for engines and machinery of various types, investment trading, a war historian, and an avid salt/freshwater fisherman, hunter, and race car driver. Anyone who knew Steve well, knew that he had a passion for drag racing and that he enjoyed spending time in his shop with his friends while collaborating on making cars meet his definition of “better”. Steve adored his family, especially, spending time with his grandchildren, and always valued vacations together at their family beach home.
Steve is survived by his mother, Velma Collins, of Reidsville; his daughters, Miranda Collins Mullins, of Summerfield, and Amy Collins Smith, of Reidsville; and his grandchildren, Aubrie Leigh Smith, Everleigh Collins Smith, Greyson Walter Smith, and Preston Banks Mullins.
The family wishes to express appreciation to the medical staff at Cone Health, UNC Rockingham, and Ancora’s Gibson House.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made directly to Ancora Compassionate Care of Rockingham County or to The American Cancer Society.
