Stanley “Gene” Tilley, 74, of Madison, passed away on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at Penn Center in Reidsville.

A 3:00 p.m. funeral service will be held on Sunday, January 14, 2024, at Ray Funeral Home with Rev. Jeremy Parker and Rev. Paul Hooker, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with military rites. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service, beginning at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Gene was born in Rockingham County on March 9, 1949, to the late Russell P. and Gaydell Lemons Tilley. He worked in the tire/automotive industry for many years and attended New Vision Fellowship before his health declined. Gene was a US Army Veteran and loved hunting, fishing, and riding motorcycles.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, R.J. and Ray Tilley; and an infant sister.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Dawn Newman Tilley of the home; his children, Stacey Gentry of Walnut Cove and Jonathan Tilley of Madison; his sister, Lucille Self of Madison; five grandchildren, Megan Shelton, Taylor Shelton, Hunter Gentry (Kayla), Remy Tilley, and Liam Tilley; a special sister-in-law and caregiver, Veronda Pruitt; and many nieces and nephews.
