Obituary: SARA CRAIG EKAS

Sara L. Craig Ekas of North Myrtle Beach, SC, passed away quietly on September 29th, 2022.

A private family graveside Memorial Service will be held on a future date. Sara will be put to rest alongside her husband, Melvin Ekas, at Mount Airy Cemetery in Natrona Heights PA. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Fair Funeral Home in Eden, NC and Duster Funeral Home in Tarentum, PA.

Sara was born in Creighton, PA on March 14, 1921, to Grace Mabel Steele Craig and Cecil Barr Craig. She graduated from Tarentum High school in June 1937.

Sara was married to Melvin A. Ekas on January 20, 1942. They were happily married for 57 wonderful years. They retired from Tarentum, PA to N. Myrtle Beach, SC in 1982 and thoroughly enjoyed the years they spent in the Myrtle Beach area! Sara was a homemaker and enjoyed extensive travel throughout the United States and abroad. She had been actively involved with the Women’s Group at Timber Ridge Village in N. Myrtle Beach. Sara was a member of Ocean Drive Presbyterian Church. Her hobbies included, but were not limited to, traveling, playing cards, crocheting, reading, crafting, knitting, completing daily crossword puzzles, square dancing, dancing and listening to her favorite country music cd’s.

Sara is survived by 4 daughters and 1 son. Perry Vintorini (Ken) of W VA, Carol Andreen (Bob) of PA, Sue Harrison (Dan) of NC, Kim Fusko (Tom) of PA and Jeffrey Ekas (Kris) of PA.  She is also survived by 13 Grandchildren and 21 Great-Grandchildren and numerous Nieces and Nephews.

Sara was preceded in death by her loving husband Melvin Ekas, a Granddaughter, 3 Sisters and 2 Brothers.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Sara’s name to
the Alzheimer’s Association or a non-profit of your choice.
