Obituary: RUTH WILLIAMS HODGE

Ruth Williams Hodge, 86, passed away on November 16, 2024 at Wesley Long Hospital.

A funeral service will be held at 11 am Wednesday, November 20, 2024 at Ellisboro Baptist Church with burial to follow in the cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 pm until 8 pm on Tuesday November 19, 2024 at Colonial Funeral Home and all other times at the home of her daughter Susan.

Ruth was born on September 2, 1938 to the late Harvey and Ollie Smith Williams. She was a loving mother and grandmother who cherished her family deeply and never missed a chance to spend time with her grandchildren. . Ruth had a passion for her work and held a special bond with her coworkers. She enjoyed traveling with the Prime Timers and had fond memories of her mountain and Florida trips with her family. Ruth also loved going to breakfast at Herbie’s with her breakfast group and spent many peaceful hours reading. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, James “Gil” Hodge, Jr.; and brothers, Glenn Williams, Neal Williams, Berkeley Williams.

She is survived by her children, Susan Hodge Turner (Greg), Geoffrey Hodge (Nora); grandchildren, Garrett, Alli, Nathan, Benjamin, Victoria.

Memorial Contributions may be made to Ellisboro Baptist Church Cemetery.

Colonial Funeral Home in Madison is serving the family.
