Ruth Amos Smith, 94, passed peacefully Saturday, May 17, 2025, at Ancora Compassionate Care (Gibson House) with her family by her side.
Mrs. Smith was born April 1, 1931, in Stokes County, to the late Bruce Amos and Lula Dodson Amos. She was a past employee of Washington Mills, RJR Brook Cove Plant, and retired from Sandy Ridge Elementary School as a librarian assistant. Ruth was a faithful member of Delta Methodist Church where she was a member of the choir, Delta quartet, and an active VBS worker. She was a hard worker. Loved working in her flowers, cooking, and traveling with her husband and family through out many of the eastern states. She loved the Lord, her family, especially the grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Bethel Oren Smith; her brothers, Orell Amos and Donnie Amos, and a sister, Doris Martin.
Survivors include her sons, Tim (Diana) Smith, Kelly Smith, and Ryan (Chasity) Smith; daughter, Sherrie (Barry) McBride; sister, Connie Gunter; four grandchildren, Dustin Smith, Caleb Smith, Mason Smith, and Jaden Smith; one great-grandchild, Raylan Castle-Smith; three step-grandchildren, and seven stepgreat-grandchildren.
