Obituary: RUSSELL TODD WEST

Russell “Todd” West, 61, entered his Heavenly home on Thursday evening, September 28, 2023.

A funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at Colonial Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Ayersville Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday evening, 6 – 8 PM, at the funeral home and other times at his residence.

Todd was born May 31, 1962 in Forsyth County, North Carolina, to the late Thomas Velton West, Sr. and Barbara Sprinkle West. He was a former truck driver for Sefa Transportation. Todd loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. In his spare time he enjoyed traveling, building and carpentry. Todd was the Pastor for the Wings of Faith Ministry.

He is survived by his wife, Carrie Goolsby West; son, Rusty West; five daughters, Faith Barajas (Jose), Kayla Alvarado (Manuel), Nicole Mabe (Derek), Sarah Edwards and Lauren West; 14 grandchildren; brothers, Gary West (Rhonda) and Allen West; his sister, Tonya Johnston; along with Amanda Hilton and Jazmine Edwards who he thought of as his daughters.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Velton West, Jr. and sister, Tammy McGee.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Hospice of Rockingham County and especially his nurse, Jessica, for all the love, care and support.
