Ruby Manring Atkins Sharpe, 83, left this earthly life while surrounded by her family on Friday, September 2, 2022 at Gibson House Hospice.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, September 6, 2022 in the Colonial Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Mayodan Municipal Cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at 1 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home and all other times at the home of her son, Tim Atkins.
Mrs. Sharpe was born on April 18, 1939 to the late Drewery Edgar Manring and Virginia White Manring. Ruby was a lifelong resident of Rockingham County and a member of Woodbine Baptist Church, where she sang in various groups, as well as the church choir. She loved her Lord and Savior and welcomed the opportunity to tell others about Him. Her greatest joy was her family and her beloved cat, Prince.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Noel Dennis Atkins; son, Tony Atkins and siblings, Johnny Manring, Paul Manring, Dorothy Isley and Bonnie Bullins.
Survivors include her son, Tim Atkins and wife, Cathy; grandchildren, Allison Beth Atkins Petschul and husband, Bryan, Brandon Lee Atkins, Dustin Corns, Cole Atkins and Daryiah Hairston; sister, Margaret Wilson; special nieces, Patty Isley and Lisa McDonald and special friends, Earlene Pugh and many special Nelson Family members.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Rockingham County, PO Box 281, Wentworth, NC 27375 or the Barry L. Joyce Local Cancer Support Fund, 725 Ayersville Road, Madison, NC 27025.
