Ruby Inez Hudson Hill

Ruby was born and lived her entire life in Rockingham County, NC. She worked as a cook and custodian at Wentworth School from where she retired. She was a loving homemaker, who raised eight children. Ruby was a very private person, an avid reader and loved cooking for her family. She always found a way to make room for another person at the table, usually by opening another can of Bush’s Pinto Beans (she’d tell you it was the only canned beans fit’n to eat). No one ever left hungry. She loved feeding the birds in the winter and was OK if the squirrels stole some of the food (they have to eat too, she would say).

Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, John and Annie Miller Hudson, her husband Billy Hill, Sr., and three of her children: John Hill, Barbara Hill Sebastian, and Charles Hill. She is survived by her children: Allen Hill, Billy Hill, Jr., Julie Hill, Lula Hill and Donald Hill, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A special thank you to Ruby’s final caregivers, Julie and Billy Jr.

A private ceremony is planned.

Citty Funeral Home is assisting the Hill family. Online condolences may be sent to: www.cittyfh.com
