Obituary: ROY BENJAMIN KALLAM, JR

Roy Benjamin Kallam, Jr., 73, passed away Wednesday morning, May 18, 2022, at his home.

A funeral service will be held at 12 Noon on Saturday, May 21st, at Gideon Grove United Methodist Church in Stokesdale. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Military rites will be performed at the graveside by the North Carolina National Guard. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service (11 AM – 12 Noon) at the church.

Roy was born December 5, 1948 in Rockingham County, NC, the son of the late Roy Benjamin Kallam, Sr. and Ruth Clifton Kallam. He was a former employee of Meredith Swimming Pool Company in Greensboro. Roy was a US Army veteran and was a member of Gideon Grove United Methodist Church. He enjoyed all sports, especially fishing, and was an avid NASCAR fan.

He is survived by his wife, Deborah Johnson Kallam of the home; a brother, Billy Gray Kallam and wife, Diane of Ridgeway, VA; and two sisters, Judy Lane Proctor of Fieldale, VA and June Hope Goins and husband, Franklin of Stoneville.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
