Roy Baxter Puckett, 89, died on Wednesday, June 8, 2022 at Gibson House Hospice.

The funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 11, 2022 in the Colonial Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Woodland Cemetery with military honors by the Rockingham County Honor Guard and the North Carolina National Guard. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday at Colonial Funeral Home in Madison and all other times at his residence.

Mr. Puckett was born on September 17, 1932 in Guilford County to the late William E. Puckett and Hattie Easter Puckett. He served his country honorably in the United States Army and retired from Burlington Industries, as well as Pine Hall Brick. Roy, affectionately known as “Papa Roy” by his family, was a devoted member of Comer’s Chapel Baptist Church and a lifelong farmer. His greatest joy was a hard day’s work and spending time with his beloved family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by wives, Louise Dodson Puckett and Macdean Atkins Amos Puckett; grandson, Mark Puckett and brother, Lewis Puckett.

Survivors include his son, Tim Puckett and wife, Anne; grandsons, Ryan Puckett and wife, Julie and John Puckett; great-grandchildren, Emily and Emma Puckett and Hayley Brown; nephews, Darrell Hawkins and wife, Yvonne and Billy Puckett; great nephews, Bryan, Jason and Jeremy Hawkins and Jordon Puckett; great niece, Lindsay Puckett and special family, Susan, Blair and Karson Hill.

The Puckett Family will be forever grateful for all of the love and support from Roy’s friends and community over the recent years.
