Roger Tysinger, 77, died on Thursday, July 27, 2023.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 31, 2023 in the Colonial Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Sardis Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Sunday at Colonial Funeral Home in Madison.
Mr. Tysinger was born on August 5, 1945 in Rockingham County to the late William “Bud” Tysinger and Lulu Chapman Tysinger. Roger was a hard working man and believed a man’s hand shake was as good as his word. For many years Roger was a tobacco sharecropper and later in life worked hanging sheetrock. He was a strong man that worked hard all of his life. He fought hard for what he believed in and never backed down for anyone or anything. Roger took pride in his work and in his family. He enjoyed catfishing, shooting pool and watching Nascar.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Teresa Tysinger Williams; brother, Jack Bennett Tysinger and sister, Joann Case.
Survivors include his daughter, Sheila Tysinger (Jimmy James); beloved companion, Becky Conway; grandchildren, Roger Harrell, Nadia Joyce Middleton, Chase Williams, Cole Williams and Ty Kallam; six great-grandchildren; mother of his children, Nellie Farmer Nelson; siblings, Edna Canny (John) and Robert Tysinger and many extended family members and friends.
Colonial Funeral Home in Madison is serving the family.
