Roger Lee Manring, 66, passed away unexpectedly at his home in the early hours of Sunday, February 9, 2025.

The memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, February 20, 2025 in the Colonial Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends beginning at 5:30 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. at the funeral home.

Roger was born on March 3, 1958, to the late Vester Albert and Nellie Hill Manring of Mayodan, NC. Most of his life was spent in Mayodan with his boyhood filled as a boy scout with the local Mayodan troop. He loved muscle cars and, before a disabling car
accident in 2006, loved taking adventures on his Harley. He was a truck driver for various companies such as Coca Cola, Chandler Concrete, Central Carolina Concrete, Shep’s Towing, Waste Management and Western Carolina Forklift. He was known as The Preacher Man for many years across CB networks and at one point in his life could be heard as an evangelist across Mayodan’s AM airwaves early every Sunday morning.

He was a steadfast Dallas Cowboys fan in addition to NASCAR and college basketball.
He was a regular at Mayodan’s own Beach House Grill where he made many friendships
in the last few years. Most importantly, he was a loving father and Papa. Roger had a loving, sociable personality and will be greatly missed.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Vester and Nellie Manring, his close uncles William “Wid” Hill and Johnny “Juke” Hill as well as his older brother, Wesley Manring, all of Mayodan, and his half-sister Sarah Eloise Manring Crouse of Greensboro.

Survivors include his children April Manring Keen, husband Adam of Stoneville, Lee Manring of Greensboro, and Miranda Manring of Mayodan; his grandchildren Cody Dodson, Kaleb Dodson, Elania Morgan, Daniel Keen, and Gracie Manring as well as step-granddaughter Stephanie Keen; niece and nephews Crystal Manring Jackson, Wesley “Bit” Manring, Jr. and Clint Manring; his special great nephews and nieces, and too many
friends to name.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Colonial Funeral Home of Madison to
assist with the funeral expenses.
