Rockey Ray Chapman, 62, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at Moses Cone Hospital.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00PM on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at Wilkerson Funeral Home with burial to follow at Evergreen Memory Gardens. A public viewing will be held one hour prior to the service from 1:00-2:00PM.

As an adolescent, Rockey enjoyed skiing, skateboarding, Tai Kwon Do, Moto Cross racing and fishing with his daddy. Rockey attended Reidsville Sr. High School. After he left High School he worked for his uncle Allen Carter at Carter Saw Mill. In 1984 he joined the International Brotherhood of Boiler makers, Local 30. He was a 3rd generation Boiler maker. Rockey always took pride in his work. He had many good memories with his local brothers. Leaving behind another generation of an extremely capable Boiler maker, his nephew, Brandon “B. Ray” Wheeler, and Rockey believed that his legacy would not be the last of a dying breed.

Rockey lived life to the fullest, he could hustle you in pool after drinking you under the table or would bring anyone in need a bag of groceries. To know Rockey; was to know one heck of a guy. Now Rockey is with his mama and they are resting in the arms of Jesus. Rockey was known for saying “I ain’t what I should be! I ain’t what I want to be, but at least I ain’t what I used to be!” Rockey accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior in May of 1992.

His family will be waiting until we’re called to be reunited.

Rockey was preceded in death by Michael Ray Shumate and his mother, Linda Chapman.

He is survived by his daughter, Jessica Ann Chapman; father, Charlie “Chuck” Chapman; sister, Jodie Lynn Chapman; grand daughter, Mallory “Jayla” Mason; grandson, Rod Washburn; aunts, Dianne Shumate Carter, Janice Terwilliger, Chattie O’dell Gilley, B.J.
