Robert Powhatan Fontaine, Sr. departed this life on Thursday morning, July 6, 2023.
He was a native of Rockingham County, North Carolina and a resident of New York for many years before returning to North Carolina. Following years of laboring, he retired as a Court Officer for the New York Judicial System and was a former New York City Police Officer. He was a member of Piney Fork Baptist Church, Eden.
His parents, Lillen Allen Fontaine and Alonzo Fontaine; daughter, Vanessa Fontaine; brother, Allen Fontaine, preceded him in death.
Survivors are: sons, Robert Fontaine, Jr. and Rahman Fontaine; daughter, Tracey Fontaine; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; special companion, Linda Darlene Martin Broadnax; other relatives and friends.
Memorial services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Thursday, July 13, 2023 from the chapel of Johnson & Sons, 115 Holderby Street, Reidsville with Elder Billy Inge presiding. His remains are in the care of Johnson & Sons.
