Robert Earl “Butch” Reid, Sr. departed this life on Tuesday morning, January 31, 2023.
As a native and lifelong resident of Rockingham County, North Carolina, he attended the local public schools and was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School, Class of 1967. Robert was a retiree of Carolina Commerical Heat Treatment. During his leisure, he enjoyed fishing and pitching horseshoes.
His parents, Mary Cobb Reid and Sam Henry Reid; beloved wife, Virginia Smith Reid; sons, Clay Reid and Robert Reid, Jr., preceded him in death.
Survivors are: loving sister, Brenda Reid Martin; devoted step-sons, Terry Thomas and Timmy Thomas (Diane); a host of grandchildren; great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
There will be no formal service.
His remains are in the care of Johnson & Sons.
