Obituary: ROBERT CLYDE THOMPSON

Robert “Clyde” Thompson, 90, passed away peacefully on April 9, 2025 at North Pointe of Mayodan.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 13, 2025 at Colonial Funeral Home in Madison with burial to follow at Mayodan Municipal Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Saturday, April 12, 2025 at Colonial Funeral Home and all other times at the home.

Clyde was born on March 6, 1935 to the late Robert and Ollie Thompson. After attending Stokesdale High School he enlisted into the United States Coast Guard where he was stationed in Seattle, Washington and Ketchikan, Alaska.

A lifelong resident of the Madison – Mayodan area, Clyde was the owner of Thompson Pump Company, where he dedicated much of his life building a respected and reliable business. Clyde never met a stranger – his kindness, smile and genuine interest in others made him a friend to all. His memory will remain a blessing to all who had the privilege of knowing him.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Stacie Goins Thompson; son, Bobby Thompson; sister, Louise Knight.

He is survived by his children, Steve Thompson (Kisha), Melissa Thompson Shreve (Tommy); grandchildren, Justin Shreve (Olivia), Joshua Shreve (fiancé, Rebecca Daughton), Ethan Evans (Rebecca); great-grandchildren, Reilly Shreve, Remmington Shreve; sisters, Jean Fagg (Charles), Janet Koffman; brother-in-law, Elroy Southard; along with many nieces and nephews.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the special staff of North Pointe of Mayodan for their exceptional care and compassionate support.

Memorial contributions may be made to Mayodan Methodist Church.
