Robbie Tilley Erickson, 90, went to be with her Lord peacefully in her home surrounded by her husband and children on May 6.

A celebration of her life will be conducted at 2:00pm on Monday, May 12 at Citty Funeral Home. The family will see friends after the service. Pastor Shannon Newsome will be officiating the service.

Robbie was born and raised in Elrod, Alabama and the daughter of the late Royal Tabor and Eldorado Tunnel Tilley. She met the love of her life, Dale Erickson, through her sister Ramona in Savanah GA, where he was stationed for the United States Air Force. Following a 6-month whirlwind romance, they married and traveled to California where they settled and started their family. After having four children they moved across the country to Lakeland, Florida in 1971 and then on to Reidsville, NC in 1974, where they maintained a residence for the remainder of her life.

Robbie was immensely creative. She enjoyed cross stitching and was an excellent seamstress, sewing anything from formal suits to beautiful wedding gowns. She was an avid reader, an amazing cook and baker. Her famous lasagna was a favorite at every family vacation. In addition to family vacations, she enjoyed traveling across the United States and Europe. She loved golf and gardening and was a member of the Reidsville Garden Club. She had a lovely voice and some of our fondest memories are of her singing throughout the house as she went about her day

Robbie loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and was a faithful and active member of Main Street United Methodist Church for many years. While a member, she started and conducted a Chrismon class for many years and made hundreds of Chrismons for the church’s Christmas Tree. Making the beautiful Chrismons became her passion and she continued this until she was no longer able.

She loved and adored her husband, Dale, of 70 years, and her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who loved her in return. She was a kind, caring and loving soul. She will be missed.

She was preceded in death, by her parents, brothers, Rudell, Ronald, Revis, and Royal (Tad), and sister Ramona. She is survived by her husband Dale Erickson of the home, oldest brother Rex Tilley, son – Alan Erickson of Reidsville, daughters, Susan Massey (Ernie), Karen Daniel (Dan), of Reidsville, NC, and Jenifer Benovy (Dave), of Hershey, PA. Seven grandchildren – Jeremy and Jordan Massey, Avery Daniel Cherry, Ashton Daniel Bathie, Kendall, Cole, and Mason Benovy. 4 great-grandchildren – Adelyn and Benjamin Massey, and Gabriel and Rowen Massey.
