Ricky Slade, the beloved husband of Zina Combs Slade, departed this life on Thursday afternoon, November 3, 2022.
As a native and lifelong resident of Rockingham County, North Carolina, he attended the local public schools and was a graduate of Reidsville Senior High School, Class of 1980. On June 20, 1981, he united in marriage to the lovely Zina Combs. To this union they were blessed with two lovely daughters. In his early years, he enjoyed playing basketball, weightlifting, fishing, building computers and watching cartoons. He was especially fond of Dragon Ballz. As a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, he actively served in the role of Ministerial Servant and Literature Counter. Following 31 years of service, he retired from Bonset of America.
His parents, Christine Bolden Slade and William Oscar Slade, Sr.; siblings, David Slade, Navor Slade and Martha Settle, preceded him in death. Survivors are: beloved wife of 41 years, Zina Combs Slade; daughters, Melinda Slade (Mark) and Tiffany Slade (Montez); grandchildren, Malachi, Montez, Naja, Yasir and Yosef. He will also be missed by his siblings, Barbara Slade, Patricia Stokes (Cecil), Ora Slade, William Slade, Jr. (Rose), Henry Slade (Connie), Albert Slade (Velma), Richard Graham and Sandy Slade; sister-in-law, Louise Slade; special friend, Rev. Joey Jones; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 8, 2022 from the chapel of Johnson & Sons, 115 Holderby Street. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 12:30 until 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
