Rickie Jackson Hennis, Sr., 75, died on Tuesday, April 18, 2023.
The funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 20, 2023 in the Colonial Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Mark Smith officiating. The family will greet friends beginning at 12 noon on Thursday at the funeral home.
Mr. Hennis was born on April 17, 1948 in Rockingham County to the late Lewis Jackson Hennis and Doris Hopper Hennis. He attended Joyful Baptist Church where he served as a trustee. Rickie was a talented, lifelong brick mason and will be remembered for his stellar work ethic.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Chatman Hennis Johnson; granddaughter, Kelley Gentry and siblings, Ruben Hennis, Charlie Hennis, Renee Brim and Joseph “Whitey” Hennis.
Survivors include his son, Rickie Jackson Hennis, Jr. (April); daughter, Michelle Collins (Ronald); grandchildren, Stephen Hennis, Joseph Hennis, Matthew Hennis, Christopher Gentry and Justin Collins; great-grandchildren, Domonick Turner and Mackenzie Hennis; sisters, Diane Neugent, Susan Hennis and Jenine Galloway and several extended family members and friends.
