Obituary: REBECCA LYNN RIVERS

Rebecca Lynn Rivers, 70, of Reidsville, NC and Mount Pleasant / Charleston, SC, passed away on Sunday February 12, 2023, at Hinkle Hospice House in Lexington, NC.

A Gathering of Remembrance will be held on Saturday, March 04, 2023, from 2:00-4:00 pm at the Wesleyan Covington Church, 3218 Vance Street, Reidsville, NC 27320.  A service will be held in Mount Pleasant, SC at a later date. Details will be announced soon. Becky’s final place will be in Southern salt waters as she directed. Current arrangements are by Triad Cremation and Funeral Service, of Greensboro, NC.

Becky was born Reidsville, NC to Arthur Raymond “Creek’ Rivers and Elizabeth Motley “Lib” Rivers on August 15, 1952. She went to school in the public school system of Reidsville, NC. She worked as an accountant, bookkeeper, sometime “shrimper” on the waters of Charleston, SC, property management, and as personal assistant to numerous families and individuals of Mount Pleasant, SC. Becky was a loyal “jack-of-all-trades” and fixer-of-all-things-needful to the greater I’on Village of Mount Pleasant, SC.

Becky is preceded in death by parents “Creek” and “Lib” Rivers, brother Jimmy Rivers, sister Susan R Johnson, brother-in-law Bill Johnson and her longtime companion and love of her life Larry Nelson of Charleston, SC.

Becky is survived by son Marc Anthony Durham, grandson Randy Durham and granddaughter Angel Durham Borland all of Reidsville, NC; Jeanne Rivers Case (Bob) of Thomasville and brother Tommy Rivers (Faye) of Reidsville, NC. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews who will remember “favorite Aunt Becky” as she often confirmed to them.

Memorials may be given, in lieu of flowers, to American Cancer Society, Charleston Animal Society of Charleston, SC, Hinkle Hospice House of Lexington, NC or your local Hospice.

The family of Rebecca Lynn Rivers wishes to extend heartfelt appreciations to the staff of Medical University of South Carolina – Charleston, family and friends who assisted Becky’s transition to Thomasville, NC, Amedisys Hospice (Karen, Laura, Suzanne, chaplain, social worker, staff), the gentle staff of Hinkle Hospice House of Lexington, NC and the compassionate professional staff of Triad Cremation and Funerals Services in Greensboro, NC.
